Brenda Louise Williams Horne

January 25, 1957-June 23, 1991

Friendship is a priceless gift that cannot be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater than a mountain made of gold.
For gold is cold and lifeless; it can neither see nor hear;
And in the time of trouble it is powerless to cheer.
It has no ears to listen, no heart to understand;
It cannot bring you comfort, or reach out a helping hand.

So, when you ask God for a gift, be thankful if He sends not diamonds, pearls or riches; be grateful as the family of Brenda Louise Williams Horne has been … that He sent us friends.

--From the funeral brochure

After her graduation from Banning High, Brenda attended the Bryman School of Nursing and earned her Registered Nurse certificate, then took a job in the aerospace industry in Torrance. Co-workers described her as well liked and respected.

She was a faithful member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Long Beach, where she sang in the Sanctuary Choir.

Brenda is the mother of two sons, Tyrone and Dameco Gates, who survive her. Also surviving her are her parents, Commodore and Marian Williams of Banning, two brothers -- Shaddie Muhammad of The Bronx, and Perry Williams of Long Beach -- two sisters -- Marilyn and Joyce Williams at Banning -- countless friends, and her fiancée, Dave Hardy of Long Beach.

An older brother, Marvin Henderson, preceded her in death.

Brenda Williams Horne passed into eternity June 23, 1991 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident, and was interred at Forest Lawn's Cypress Memorial Park in Cypress CA.

My sincerest gratitude goes to Genece Miller-White for her valuable assistance in preparing this tribute.
